Sir Martin Gilbert Book Club

Make yourself a cup of tea, grab your well-thumbed copy and join us on the first Friday of the month for the Sir Martin Gilbert Book Club. Professor Shirli Gilbert, Dr Bethany Gaunt and Allen Packwood OBE will be hosting these sessions and we look forward to a lively and interactive discussion. Places are limited, so please email bethany@sirmartingilbertlearningcentre.org for more information.

This term’s sessions are as follows, please click on the links to book your place:

7 October – In Ishmael’s House: A History of Jews in Muslim Lands (Shirli Gilbert)

4 November – The Boys (Bethany Gaunt)

2 December – Churchill and America (Allen Packwood)

These books are available online, both new and second-hand. Please make sure you have read the book before the session, as we would love to hear your thoughts!

Expectations:

The Book Club is intended as a participatory event, meaning that everyone should have their screen on and should be willing to share their thoughts on the book. Places are limited and we will operate a waiting list; please let us know in advance if you can’t come so we can give place to someone on waiting list. We ask for modest donation of £5 per session to cover our overheads; please select the appropriate ticket option if you are able to support our work. If you are based outside the UK and would like to know what time the event takes place in your local time, please contact bethany@sirmartingilbertlearningcentre.org.
