What is our vision? We want teachers to feel confident and equipped to teach Jewish history in a balanced and appropriate way. Rather than having students encounter Jews only as victims (as they do in most current teaching), we want to provide opportunities for them to encounter the diversity of Jewish life, culture and history. Taking Sir Martin Gilbert’s approach of focusing on the individual in history, our schools work aims to counter misperceptions about Jews and help students (and teachers) understand that Jews have a longstanding history in Britain and Europe and have made significant contributions to society.
